By the end of April, work was well under way to salvage the parts that could be reused and haul away the rest. We're not going to reuse the front and rear end-caps but we saved them in case someone wanted them. (Yes, they're for sale.) There's nothing wrong with them, it's simply that I believe I can make better ones myself.

I started to gain an appreciation for what I had. For example, as a one ton chassis, the motorhome is considered a light duty truck. However, I began running into parts that are more commonly found on medium duty trucks, such as a Ross steering gearbox.

The function of the rear end-cap was primarily cosmetic as it turned out to contain a large amount of wasted space. The compartment in the lower part, below the window, served mostly to collect dust and the upper part was hollow, neither adding any useful space nor helping to insulate the coach. The only thing the end-cap really did was add a foot or so to the overall length. I know I can do better, making an end-cap that is sealed tighter, contains more insulation, and is lighter than the original. (We considered keeping the rear end-cap but ultimately decided it was easier and better for us to make a new one than it would be to try to adapt the original.)
